Sunday 17th
Today we went to Victoria Market. We got the tram which took us to the entrance of the market which at 12pm was still really busy and packed. The market is big and vibrant, quite different from Adelaide, there was a whole section for butchers, a section for seafood, fresh fruit and veg, an organic section, a food hall, delis and food and a general market at the top. We got a wedge of Watermelon for $2 and for breakfast Thomas had a hot dog and I had a slice of cornmeal Espanol pizza (mozzarella, goats cheese, peppers, asparagus and marinara) it was really good! We bought a hazelnut hot chocolate and some doughnuts from the van with the never ending queue!!!
It was great having a wander round, so much to look at but quite different from the Central Market in Adelaide!
We had a wander up to the Melbourne Museum and went to look at the exhibits- it was a great museum- loads to look at including a section for dinosaurs, sea creatures, bugs, the human body, stuffed animals of every kind and an indoor rainforest!! We really enjoyed looking around- my favourite was the section on bugs and creatures- it was fascinating and the exhibits were brilliant!! We had to rush for the 1.5 hrs we had so would have been great to have a bit longer!
We weren't far from Little Italy so we had a wander over, Thomas had some salted caramel ice cream from Jauja Ice Cream that was really nice and then we had to avoid the vendors outside all the restaurants- it was like being on holiday in Italy with everyone trying to grab you into their restaurants!!
We found the shopping mall and Cinema Nova which does cheap tickets on a monday and decided to go there tomorrow!!
We found a Woolworths and bought some muesli- we are both sick of porridge and the mission it is to cook and clean up!!
It was a good day but we were both really tired so we had some pasta for dinner and watched The Birdcage with Rob and Emma which was really nice. We are really happy staying at theirs, the house is so clean and comfortable its a good, comfortable base!!
