Saturday 16th
We got a taxi at 7am to Adelaide airport and after a 3hr delay we got the flight to Melbourne.
First impressions of Melbourne as we drove into the city were it was massive!! Massive and industrial! We got a taxi from the airport to our Air BNB in Kensington just outside of the city centre. It was a very dramatic change from Adelaide which in comparison is a lot smaller and nowhere near as industrial and built up.
After dropping off our stuff we had a wander into the CBD by train which is 5 mins from the house, the sun was setting as we got the train and the second we got off the train at Flinders Street and Degraves Street underpass we were hit by the manic business of Degraves Street on a Saturday night!! It was insanely busy but vibrant and all the street stalls smelt amazing and spilled out onto the streets with people talking and city under heaters at tables and chatting away. We wandered from arcade to arcade and although it was disorientating it was great to be in such a hive of activity!! We walked from street to street and along to China Town, along to Federation Square and along the Southbank River past all the lights in the high rise buildings and the River Yarra looked amazing in all the lights and reflections!!
We grabbed a burger at the Southbank Arcade food mall from Grill'd Burger- it wasn't the best but the sweet potato chips were good!!
