Brisbane

Monday 1st September

Can;t believe it's the 1st of September today!! Crazy! We've been here 3 weeks and I can't believe this is our last visit before trying to find somewhere to live!

We woke up early and got our stuff together to leave Newtown, was keen to leave the house and get to the airport, was feeling absolutely rotten and just wanted to get things moving!

We pulled the suitcases up to Newtown train station and it hit me just how ill I was feeling, my head was a mess and I could hardly pull my suitcase!

We made it on to the train and luckily managed to get the one we needed to the airport, we decided to pay the $24 airport tax instead of walking for my sake and I'm so glad we did. It was so easy getting to the airport and when we were at the airport itself it was a straightforward connection. I had some sushi whilw we waited for our plane and it was really nice so I was happy to get the plane without feeling starving for once!

When we arrived at Brisbane we were met by Leon who owns the house we were staying it. It was nice to be met at the airport and not have to worry about getting to the house with all our stuff!

As soon as we set foot off the plane I was soooo happy!

We had heard that Brisbane has lovely weather but I took it with a pinch of salt because its winter and because the weather had been not rainy but not too great since we got here. 

When we actually arrived however I was super happy! The weather is AMAZING!!!! It's like the hottest weather in the height of summer in the UK- the freak heat wave we occasionally get and then are punished with biblical weather for the next month because of it!

The drive to the house was beautiful, the river and all the houses with all their sailing boats sitting idly in the sun. It's a beautiful place!

The house itself is a luxury house, we are sharing the top floor with 3 other bedrooms but there are only 1 other couple staying here today, a Korean brother and sister who are staying in Brisbane for work.

Our room is great we have a comfortable bed, air con and a good TV with lots of channels so we're pretty happy, the apartment itself is fab, the bathroom is big and clean!! The kitchen and living areas are open plan and clean!!!! Love it, the decking outside is huge and the sun is amazing!!!

The only problem is.. I'm dying! We crash in the room for an hour before walking to the Woolworths at the Gasworks shopping centre, 10 mins away and stock up on some food for tonight before heading back.

We have some soup and then collapse in bed watching TV till I eventually cough so much Thomas runs back to the supermarket and gets some pills and painkillers along with some Pepsi Max to help me get to sleep, the Pepsi Max is for my throat and so I can swallow the pills!!

Eventually we get to sleep, its nice to be in Brisbane, we're looking forward to exploring!!
